Alta Ski Area receives over 500 inches of snow on average during its ski season! It’s roughly 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport to Alta’s base area. You might even consider wearing your ski gear on the plane and switch into your boots on the ride up the canyon. Alta is impressive because of its spectacular mountain, fluffy powder, and traditional personality. The resort shares a border with Snowbird, but no snowboarders are allowed on the Alta side. It’s obvious that Alta’s focus is on the skiers and not the nightlife or fashion aspect you’ll find at other resorts.
